Slight correction the watch in the box is a marine chronometer what you have bought is a deck watch. The marine chronometer is built to much tighter standards. WW2 US navy standards for marine chronometers was a second and a half per day. And they had to be this accurate because it was a navigation tool. The deck watches would be worn by the crew and they were built to what we now call cosc certification which is -4 to +6 a day. And they would set their watches to the marine chronometer and that is how you get ship time.

I have a question regarding the month function, does the watch detect the 30 and 31 days for each month? (Hopefully 28 days for Feb) too.

I have several from Amazon that are made by Berny, which are just fine in every way. The last one is black and went on a San Martin new model bronze diver, it looks terrific!

On Omega a shark mesh is kinda mandatory. A high end watch deserves a great bracelet

I’ve literally just opened my Berny mesh bracelet from AliExpress. £11. Great quality, feels & looks just as good as, if not better than the Milanese band I bought from Apple for £99 4 years ago! Watch Gecko is a great company, but a few UA-cam videos out there help to direct people to good quality Chinese offerings 👍 Thanks for this comparison, it shows that we need to be wary! I’ve just noticed this video was made 6 years ago. I think that things have really improved since then…….

Thank you for that very interesting history of the brand and design. I never knew about the Piping Rock and how this watch is an homage to the Piping Rock. Can someone confirm whether the case is the same for the regular non chronograph and chronograph? I want to buy the oem stainless steel bracelet for my h797160. The seller of the factory stainless steel bracelet couldn't confirm. If it will fit because Hamilton never offered the chromograph... I couldnt find any sude by sude of the two versions together but from the pictures and videos I examined, the two cases appear to be the same...

I have owned dozens of hamiltons and this one remains a fav. Just wish the rubber straps weren't soooo short😮

Nice review! However, one advantage of the less expensive models in your review is the relative range and ease of size adjustability. Right from the start, the wrap-around type of mesh bracelet will fit a wide range of wrist sizes with near infinite adjustability, and because of the clasp design, the fit can be resized almost on the fly (all that is needed is a paper clip and about 2 seconds) at any time during the day. The clasp on the Milanaise-style bracelet I have is also very secure, and much more discreet than the monster clasp on the STAIB model.

I have had the panda version for 5 years and love it. Keeps great time and is charming.

Awesome video! I own a 1st gen (2500 movement) Omega PO XL (45.5mm) and I want to get a Staib mesh bracelet. I think my model uses the 22mm version. Lug to lug is about 47-48mm and my wrist is around 7 inches (give or take a quarter). I think I'll be fine with the medium lenght 150mm version, but I'm still debating on the butterfly vs diver clasp... Which one do you recommend? I'm also going with the Matte version (less shiny version).

This is really a great review. Does this STAIB mesh bracelet fit well with Omega Speedmaster. I am thinking to purchase this one for my Omega SMP 3861. My wrist is about 7”. Do you think that either 130 or 150 mm should be fine for my wrist?

I bought a cheap Chinese version also. It was made badly - the clasp would not slide. Kinks in the bracelet prevented the slide to adjust length. The Chinese market depends on volume - it has come to mean cheap, not only in the sense of "inexpensive" but in the sense of poor craftsmanship. I have rarely seen it otherwise. It will continue, of course, as long as people continue to patronize these products. There are choices.

Would you reccomend the 2784 or 2792 for a Breitling Superocean Heritage 42 ? I bought mine on a rubber strap with a deployant clasp and while i like the clasp i regretted not getting the bracelet straight away. And apparently Staib maked Breitlings bracelets anyway.

Had my Militare watch for a few years, works perfectly and still looks great.

Good to see this review. I got myself this exact watch but green bezel which looks all black depending on lighting. I was concerned when i got mine because that clasp looks like yours, unsigned. I got mine from an original one owner with everything from box to booklets and all. Im glad i got this watch in this size. Thinking of picking up a new version in the 300m all white dial.

I bought the same watch some time ago; I really love the blue dial, and the fact that there's a dependable Valjoux 7751 inside.

Will be getting this too for my 8 inch wrist. The regular moonwatch is just a bit too small for a chronograph. For this type of watch I feel like it can be a bit bigger. And for me 44mm is pretty much the ideal size anyways. For most of the people its likely too big. This is a hard find these days too, was lucky to find one.

Dave, loved this review. First of all, I'm about to purchase an H10 version of this piece with the white face. Second, and most importantly, I spent 4 of the best years of my life in Lancaster. I went to F&M between 1976 and 1980. Sadly, I was there when TMI had its little "issue." Keep up the great work and thanks for the little bit of Lancaster history, too!

My time is always off and I don’t have the time or inclination to review how to set your watch every time I want to wear it. So it just sits in my watch case and never gets worn

I feel the same way about the Moonwatch. This is perfect because it has a date window and three subdials. The only two-subdial Speedy I love is the Dark Side of the Moon.

I bought "cheap" $5 chinese mash bracelet and I did not had the problems you describe here. Probably both bracelets you are describing here comes from the same factory, but QC is better for the wholesale customers. I belive that is worth double the price but NOT 8 TIMES.

I just got mine 2 weeks ago and I am very pleased. Slightly different bracelet but otherwise a carbon copy.

How do you adjust the min counting hand ? is it front load movement design?

I just purchased a 20 buck mesh identical to the WatchGecko model with oblique links and the angular clasp they sell for about $50. I'm 100% sure it's the same exact bracelet, as many have pointed out that WatchGecko has Chinese factories pump out many of their cheaper offerings as OTS straps with customized logos on the clasp. You pay about 60% more for the logo alone, and with WG being outside the EU you end up spending about €100 for a €40 strap. Embarrassing to say the least.
